You Might Be Sabotaging Your Recruiting Efforts
In my last post, I talked about the difference between
marketing and prospecting. In a nutshell, marketing
is made up of all the things we do to get noticed while
prospecting is having a conversation with someone that
leads to the question, “Will you look?”
Pretty simple. But people…I daresay the majority…
are looking for that “magic script” that will turn them
into a recruiting machine.
But truth is, it takes a bit more than a slick script
or knowing how to “answer objections”.
Once the ice has been broken and rapport established,
we have to be willing to ask the tough questions and
tell it like it is. You know what I’m talking about…
the stuff that gives you butterflies (at least at first).
We tend to get better with practice and time, but until
and unless we have a STRONG BELIEF in what we’re doing,
we won’t be seen as someone worth following.
Your Beliefs Are Critical
We must believe in our company, our product and ourselves,
of course, but if we shy away from talking about the
industry and/or our profession as a network marketer,
some soul searching needs to be done.
We may point to various reasons why we don’t want to
talk about it…the profession has been given a bad
name, we don’t want to be rejected, we’re desperate for
a sign up, etc.
But if we’re uncomfortable and avoid the subject of
network marketing like the plague, our own LACK OF
BELIEF in the industry is sabotaging us!!
We need to be clear with OURSELVES FIRST as to why
we chose network marketing.
(There are all kinds of reasons people are attracted to
MLM, but rather than go into a lengthy list here, I’ll
just ask that you be honest with yourself. And if your
belief in the industry as a whole isn’t ROCK SOLID, then
you MUST work on that if you want to succeed)
For example: The person we’re talking to may have
misgivings about becoming part of the industry, and
quite often…especially if they’ve never been in the
industry before…when we ask them straight up what they
know about network marketing, we’ll discover that they
likely know very little or much of what they hold as “fact”
is misinformation and heresay.
Here’s the thing…
THEIR belief in our amazing profession can begin with us…
The bottom line is that if we don’t TRULY believe in
MLM/Network Marketing as a viable…and
HONORABLE…profession, that will come across to our prospects and it’s GAME OVER.
I believe we REALLY DO have a better way, and it’s my
sincere desire to share my profession with as many people
as I possibly can.
