Why You Need WRITTEN Goals

Here we are…the first day of a brand New Year…

Again.

Are you making a lot of the same promises to yourself about
“this year I’m…” just like you did last year?

And the year before?

Can it REALLY be different this year?

Can you finally do, be and have what you’ve been dreaming about??

The answer to that question is a resounding YES, YOU CAN!!

It all begins with goals…WRITTEN goals.

The reasons that most people don’t have more, become more or do
more are generally two fold:

·    They’re not in the habit of asking, and

·    They fail to make a few simple DECISIONS of exactly what
they want

This may seem like picking at minute details, but definite
specifications must be in place for your wants to be supplied.

Think of it like the needle of a compass.  Very, very tiny, but
necessary if you want to stay on course.

Establishing your goals is the first and most important step in
achieving them.

People have no doubt been yammering at you for years about goals,
what they are, short term, long term…yadda, yadda, yadda. But just
exactly what is a goal?

Simply put, goals are instructions we give ourselves for a SPECIFIC
desired outcome.

So why do we have to have goals? I mean, can’t we just move forward
with a general idea of what we want?

Definite plans produce definite results.  No plan…no result.

I’ve heard it said that if you’re aiming at nothing, you’ll no
doubt get it.  By the way, lack of planning still produces a result…
just probably not the one most folks want.

It’s important to remember to put your goals in writing.  When they’re
not written down, the activities and interruptions of daily living can
cause things to get a bit murky…even lost in the shuffle.

Although they’re so clear and tangible in your mind today that you
can feel, taste and smell them, trust me…as life interferes, your
motivation and purpose can get lost, making it difficult to even
remember them at times.

Written goals provide you with an anchor…a reference point and a
reminder of where it is you want to go.  Writing them down makes it
tangible in our minds, lets us know where we’re going, and where we
ARE with respect to our ultimate goal.

Remember, goals are meant to SUPPORT our purposes…
NOT be a heavy hand over us.

And focusing on them can allow us to have everything we truly want.

In a nutshell, we will get from life EXACTLY what we expect,
because we tend to become what we imagine ourselves to be.

And written goals help us to specifically define just what that is.

Have a safe, happy and PROSPEROUS New Year!!
