Sometimes Life Smacks Us In The Face
Life is certainly interesting, isn’t it?
Every now and again, it seems to jump up and
smack us in the face
Take a couple weeks ago, for example
I woke up a bit earlier than usual, excited
to do some more on the training series I’ve
been working on
As I threw back the covers, I noticed the
air in my room had a bit of a nip
The temperatures had been predicted to drop
overnight, so I made a mental note to bump up
the thermostat and headed for the kitchen
For the next several minutes, my actions
were largely robotic
Start the coffee, let the dog out, feed both
the dog and the cat, drink a glass of water…
Oh yeah…I wanted to turn up the heat, so
I went to the hallway where the thermostat
is located
I was surprised to see a large digital “60”
on the temperature display and figured our
furnace had issues, until…
I went to wash up.
There wasn’t any hot water, either!
Long story short, after hours of using
metal detectors, then probing and digging
my yard up with a Bobcat, the gas company
capped off the line to keep the property
safe and said they’d be back the next day
to replace the ENTIRE line.
In the meantime…
No heat and no hot water.
And no work on my training series
The bulk of my day was spent making sure my
elderly mother kept warm enough as the
temperature in the house continued to drop.
Yup…life is certainly interesting
We can be tooling along
On track and moving closer to our goals
every day, and…
BLAM!!!!!!!!
Life smacks us right square between the eyes
with something we never expected
Our attention is pulled somewhere, something
demands our time and our momentum is interrupted
It might be anything from a short-lived
challenge or interruption we must deal with
or a massive brick wall that we need to get past
But I promise you…
There will always be SOMETHING!
Over the years, I’ve learned that those
challenges and roadblocks are inevitable
regardless of the goals we look to achieve
Every interruption, challenge, or roadblock we
encounter is there to test what we’re made of
and see if we REALLY want what we say we do
And here’s the GOOD news…
The Universe always seeks to maintain balance
and the magnitude of the challenges we face
foretell what’s waiting for us on the other side
So the next time something gets in your way,
recognize it as the Universe checking to see
how badly you want success…and keep going!!
Your reward will be well worth it!
